✅ Widget: Collection

The Collection Widget lets you gather favorite or frequently visited pages and Wavebox apps in one place. It appears in a Dashboard so you can quickly access everything you need for a specific project or workflow.

Add a Collection Widget

  • Add Widget
    • In any dashboard, click Add Widget button top-right.
    • In the Widget Library, select Collection.
    • The Collection widget will appear on your dashboard.
  • Position & Resize
    • Click and drag the Collection widget to move it around.
    • Drag an edge or corner to resize.

Add Shortcut to an App in Wavebox

  • In the widget, click on the 'Add your first item' button.
  • In the pop-up, click on 'Add an app from your Wavebox'.
  • Find a group or app in the list and click on the + icon next to it.
  • In the pop-up give the shortcut a name.
  • Click on 'Add another app' to add more groups/apps.
  • Click Save button when done.

Add a Shortcut to a Website or URL

  • Copy the link to your clipboard.
  • Click on the 'Add' button in the widget.
  • In the pop-up, click on 'Add an website or link'.
  • Complete the link details:
    • Paste the URL
    • Name
    • Description
  • Click 'Add another shortcut' to add more URLs. This creates a shortucts folder:
    • Enter a folder name
    • Enter a folder description
  • Choose a Space (for it to open in) from the dropdown.
  • Choose where the link should open
    • As tabs in the current window
    • As tabs in a new window
    • As tabs in an (already) open secondary window.
  • Click the Save button.

Using the Widget

After clicking 'Save', the widget will appear instantly on the dashboard.

  • Individual App Shortcuts
    • One icon will show alongside the name.
    • Click to go to that app in Wavebox
    • Click to add that app to Wavebox (shared dashboards)
  • Group of App Shortcuts
    • Up to 4 icons shown in a folder, alongside the name.
    • Click to show icons for all apps in the group
    • Click an icon to go to that app in Wavebox
    • If download icon is displayed on the icon, click it to add the app to your Wavebox (shared dashboards)
  • Individual URL Shortcuts
    • One icon will show alongside the name.
    • Click to open a tab in the space/window specified.
  • Group of URL Shorcuts
    • Up to 4 icons shown in a folder, alongside the name.
    • Click to show favicons for all shortcuts in the group
    • Click a favicon to open a tab in the space/window specified
    • Click the 'Open All' icon top-right to open all shortcuts as tabs in the existing window.
    • Right-click on the folder and select 'Open All' (in current window), or 'Open All in New Window'.

Add to Collections as You Work

You may come across pages/URLs you want to add to a Collection as you work. It could be a website, a document on Google Drive, or a project in ClickUp. When these pages have very long links, it's easier to 'send' them to a Collection than add them manually. Here's how:

  • Right-click on a page, tab, or app > 'Send to Dashboard' > pick the Collection.
  • Right-click the space indicator icon in any window > 'Send all tabs to Dashboard' (to save an entire session).

Use Collections as Tab Sessions

Any Collection can be used as a tab session to use again and again. Note that if your Collection includes Folders of shortcuts, these will open as Chrome Groups in the secondary window.

Step 1

  • Open a new window and begin your task by opening tabs etc.
  • When done, click on the Space indicator icon (on the right of the address bar) and choose 'Send all tabs to dashboard collection'.
  • Choose a dashboard from the dropdown menu.
  • Choose an existing widget from the dropdown or create a new widget.
  • Select from the options (if shown):
    • Use the tab groups from the window (maintains the Chrome groups as Collection folders).
    • Add to the Collection in a single folder.
    • Add to the Collection as multiple shortcuts.

Step 2

  • To use again, hover over the Collection and click on the Settings cog top-right.
  • Click on 'Open & track shortcuts in a new window'.
  • A secondary window will launch with your shortcuts. You can remove tabs and open new tabs etc.
  • When done, use the X to completely close the secondary window to view this pop-up: 'Do you want to save these changes to the Collection' click on YES.

Manage and Organize

  • Switch layout: Hover over the widget and open widget’s settings (cog icon), and toggle Grid or List view.
  • Change the Collection Title: Click on the title to edit it.
  • Add more apps/shortcuts: Right-click > Edit > Add another app/shortcut.
  • Rename shortcuts: Right-click > Edit.
  • Remove a shortcut: Right-click > Delete.
  • Show/Hide the +Add button: Open widget’s settings (cog icon), look for 'Show add button' and uncheck.
  • Delete the Collection: Open widget’s settings (cog icon) and select Remove widget.

Advanced Features

  • Move and Add: Click the widget settings cog to move and add the widget to another dashboard.
  • Share the Collection: Click the widget settings cog to add it to a shared Dashboard so team members can view or edit it. It will appear in the Widget Library under 'Shared Team Widgets'.
  • Copy Widget Link: Every widget has a URL so it can be viewed in any tab as well as on the dashboard. Click the widget settings cog and select 'Copy widget link'.
  • Pop-out: Click the pop-out icon (top of the widget) to open it in a floating window. Keep it always on top or position it on a second monitor.
