Split-Screen

Split screen lets you view 2 web apps or pages side by side in the same Wavebox window. Whether you want to compare documents, keep an eye on email, or work in multiple accounts at the same time, split-screen makes multitasking easy.

Here are some basics:

  • You can split any 2 tabs, even if they are in different spaces.
  • We offer left, right, tab, bottom split currently.
  • You can change the split orientation at any time.
  • Splits between tabs in the same Group persist until cancelled.
  • It also works in secondary windows to split tabs in that window.

Primary Tab - the name for the tab in focus when split-screen is activated. This tab will 'stick' whilst the other tab changes as you navigate.

Split-Screen Options

  • Split Within this Group
Use this option to use split-screen with another app or tab in the group you are in. Each Wavebox group can remember its own split settings, so you can have different splits for different workflows.
  • Split Within this Window
Use this option to use split-screen with another app or tab in a different group or space.

Customize Your Split

  • Switch Orientation
Once split, click the Split-Screen button again to switch between left-right or top-bottom layouts.
  • Persistent Splits
Each Wavebox group can remember its own split settings, so you can have different splits for different workflows.
  • Multi-Account Side-by-Side
If you have separate spaces for multiple accounts, you can display both in split view at the same time (e.g., two Gmail or Slack accounts). To do this, you need to choose the 'Split within this Window' option.

Exiting Split View

  • Unsplit
    • Right-click the primary tab (the one you originally split) and select Unsplit app/tab.
    • The window returns to a single-panel view.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts
    • Assign custom shortcuts in Settings > General > Keyboard Shortcuts to split or unsplit tabs without using the mouse.

Troubleshooting

  • Don’t See Split Options?
    • Make sure you’re on the latest Wavebox version.
    • Split-screen requires a Wavebox Pro subscription or trial.
  • Divider Won’t Move?
    • Try clicking inside one of the panels and dragging again.
    • Restart or update Wavebox if the issue persists.
  • Losing My Layout?
    • Each group’s split should remain after restarts. If it doesn’t, check for updates or contact support.
  • Want More Than Two Panels?
    • Currently, Wavebox supports two panels per window. For extra views, open a second Wavebox window.
