Wavebox offers a range of privacy controls to protect your data. From locking the browser to managing data sync and controlling site permissions, you can fine-tune your privacy setup at any time.


General Security & Privacy

  • Click the Settings cog in the bottom-left corner of Wavebox.
  • Select My Wavebox.
  • In the sidebar, open Security & Privacy to manage privacy-related options like Profile Sync, analytics, and account security.

Enable Privacy Lock

Use Wavebox’s Privacy Lock to quickly shield your screen when you’re away. Learn how to use it here.


Manage Profile Sync

Wavebox can sync your accounts and settings to the cloud, but it’s optional:

  • In Security & Privacy, locate Profile Sync.
  • Uncheck Enable Profile Sync to keep all data local.
  • Re-enable at any time if you need to sync across multiple devices.

Tip: Even when Profile Sync is on, Wavebox does not upload cookies or browsing history, keeping your session data local by default.


Clear Cookies & Site Data

Per Site

  • Open a site in Wavebox, then click the padlock in the address bar.
  • Select Cookies & Site Data and remove the site’s data to clear cookies or fully log out.

All Data in a Space (instant)

  • Go to Settings (cog icon), then Spaces.
  • Choose the Space you want to clear (e.g., “Work”).
  • Click Clear all browsing data to remove cookies, cache, and local storage for every app in that Space.

All Data in a Space (on quit)

  • Click on the Spaces indicator icon in the address bar.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up and check the box next to 'Clear cookies and site data when you Quit'

Control Site Permissions

Grant or block access to camera, mic, notifications, etc.:

  • Click the padlock in the address bar of any site.
  • Adjust permissions (Allow or Block) for camera, microphone, location, and notifications as needed.
  • Reload the page to apply changes.

Use Spaces for Separation

Spaces keep cookies and browsing data separate:

  • Each Space functions like a private container—sites in one Space can’t see data from another.
  • Create or edit Spaces via Settings > Spaces.
  • Assign different apps (e.g., work vs. personal) to specific Spaces to avoid mixing logins and cookies.

Tip: If you need a fresh slate in just one Space, remove or clear that Space without affecting others.


GDPR & Deleting your Wavebox Account and Data

  • Please send a delete request from your login email account to support@wavebox.io. We will then delete your account and remove all data from our systems.

Troubleshooting & Tips

  • Forgot Privacy Lock PIN?
    Click Forgot Pin on the lock screen. You’ll reset it after confirming your Wavebox account.
  • Auto-lock not working?
    Make sure idle detection isn’t suspended (right-click the padlock, uncheck “Suspend idle detection”).
  • Notifications overload?
    Block or mute them per site under the padlock menu or in the app settings. You can also globally mute an app by right-clicking its icon.
