✅ Navigator
Navigator provides a visual, real-time overview of all your open apps, tabs, and windows. It helps you quickly switch between tabs, close unneeded ones, and manage resource usage.
Launch Navigator
- Webdock bottom left
- Look for the compass icon in the webdock bottom left.
- Go to ⚙ Settings > General Tab > Webdock and look for 'Choose which controls are displayed' and click on the compass icon.
- Toolbar top right
- Look for the compass icon (top-right)
- Go to ⚙ Settings > General Tab > Appearance > Customize Toolbar and toggle ON the Navigator Icon.
- Custom Keyboard Shortcut
- Go to ⚙ Settings > General Tab > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application > Open Navigator, and set your own key combination.
Navigator Overview
When you open Navigator, you’ll see thumbnails for each app and tab currently open in Wavebox.
- Thumbnails: Each thumbnail shows the site name and, if active, a mini-preview. Click on a thumbnail to go straight to that app/tab.
- 3 Views: Spacial, List and Grid.
- Sorting Options: Arrange thumbnails by memory/CPU usage, sidebar order, or tab count.
- Search: Use the search bar to locate tabs by title or URL.
Navigator Window
- Explore:
- Drag with your mouse to move around
- Zoom in and out using the mouse wheel.
- Menu Bar: Horizontal bar at the top of the Navigator window.
- Icons for the 3 view options on the left
- Keyword Search text field in the middle
- Shortcut to Task Manager on the right.
- Title Bar: Horizontal header area with view icons on the left.
- Spacial: Icon to show/hide tabs, and tab display modes.
- List: Icons for ordering; alphabetical, memory usage, CPU usage
- Grid Navigator: Icons for views; equal grouping, tab count, memory usage.
Spacial View
Click the "spiral" icon top-left. Shows thumbnails for apps, ordered horizontally by Group.
- Displays all Groups from all Spaces.
- Click the Tab Display (toggle) icon top left to show/hide tabs.
- No Tabs: Hide all tabs
- Tabstrip: Shows tabs alongside apps
- Stacked: Tabs are shown stacked behind the app thumbnail.
List View
Click the "horizontal list" icon top-left. Shows thumbnails for all apps and tabs in one list.
- Click an ordering icon top left to change the order.
- Most recent first (clock icon)
- Alphabetical (Letter A icon)
- Memory Usage (chip icon)
- CPU usage (speedometer icon)
- Each horizontal tab listing includes:
- Recent thumbnail
- Tab title, URL, app and group.
- Real-time memory and CPU usage graphs
- X close icon (closes the tab in Wavebox)
- Moon🌓 sleep icon (instantly sleeps the tab)
Grid View
Click on the "4 uneven squares" icon top-left. Shows thumbnails in groups.
- Click an ordering icon top left to rearrange the groups.
- Equal Grouping (grid icon)
- Tab Count (4 squares )
- Memory Usage (chip icon)
Manage Tabs and Apps
- Switch to a Tab
- Click any thumbnail to jump there in Wavebox.
- Tab Memory Usage
- Hover over the tab title to see how much memory it is using.
- Close a Tab/App/Group
- Hover over the thumbnail and click ✕ on the right to close it.
- Sleep a Tab or Group
- Click the moon 🌓 icon to temporarily sleep a group or tab to save memory.
- Sleeping apps will appear dimmed or hidden (depending on which layout is being used).
Troubleshooting
- Missing Compass Icon
- Go to Settings > General > User Interface and ensure the Navigator (compass) icon is enabled under Sidebar or Top Toolbar.
- Blank Thumbnails
- Thumbnails may show as blank if the tab was never opened or has been idle. Click the thumbnail to refresh it.
- High Memory Usage
- Choose to sort by memory usage to identify resource-hungry tabs and close or sleep them.
