ā Default Browser
Wavebox can be set as your default browser so that all links open in Wavebox. Follow the steps below for your operating system.
š Quick Setup (All Platforms)
- Open Wavebox and click the Settings Cog in the bottom-left corner.
- Choose Default Browser & Handlers from the sidebar.
- Under Default Browser, click Make Default.
- If prompted by your operating system, select Wavebox and confirm.
Wavebox should now be set as your default. If you need more specific instructions (e.g., Windows 11 or macOS System Settings), check the sections below.

- In Wavebox Settings
- Go to Default Browser & Handlers.
- Click Make Default.
- A Windows prompt may appear. Choose Wavebox.
- Via Windows Settings (if needed)
- Windows 10:
- Start > Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
- Under Web browser, select Wavebox.
- Windows 10:
- Windows 11:
- Start > Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
- Search for Wavebox.
- Set Wavebox as default for HTTP, HTTPS, and other relevant file types.
š macOS
- In Wavebox Settings
- Go to Default Browser & Handlers.
- Click Make Default.
- A Windows prompt may appear. Choose Wavebox.
- Via System Settings/Preferences
- macOS Ventura (13+):
- Apple Menu > System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
- Select Wavebox under Default web browser.
- Older macOS:
- Apple Menu > System Preferences > General.
- Choose Wavebox under Default web browser.

- In Wavebox
- Go to Settings > Default Browser & Handlers.
- Click Make Default.
- Via System Settings
- Open your Default Applications or Preferred Applications.
- Set Wavebox as your default web browser.
Depending on your distribution, you may need to adjust file/protocol associations for http/https. Some desktop environments also let you set defaults from the command line (e.g., xdg-settings set default-web-browser wavebox.desktop
).
