✅ App Settings

App Settings let you customize each app’s behavior and appearance. From renaming apps and changing icons, to configuring notifications and sleep settings, you decide how apps should work for you.

Open App Settings

  1. Right-click the App Icon in the webdock or tabstrip.
  2. Select ⚙Settings > App Settings.
  3. The App Settings will open in a pop-up window.
Tip: You can also find the same settings by going to Settings (gear icon) > Groups & Apps, then selecting the app from the list.

Rename & Change Icons

Wavebox uses site names and favicons by default. Customize to stay organized:

  1. Rename the App: Right-click on the app, then click on the app name to edit it.
  2. Upload a Custom Icon: Right-click on the app, then click on the existing icon. Either select an icon from the library or upload your own image.
  3. Choose a Border or Badge Color: Right-click on the app, and choose a color from the palette.

Launch on Startup

Choose which app is shown when Wavebox restarts. Only 1 app can be selected.

  1. Right-click on the app, then hover over ⚙Settings.
  2. Look for 'Launch this app on Start-Up' and check the box.
  3. This will be applied the next time you restart.

Manage Sleep & Performance

Wavebox 'sleeps' inactive apps to save memory. You can adjust these settings per app.

  • Right-click on an app, then hover over ⚙Settings.
    • Look for 'Automatically sleep app' and check ON or OFF.
    • Look for 'Auto wake app in background' and check ON or OFF.
  • Right-click on an app, then go to ⚙Settings > App Settings.
    • Look for 'Sleep app after minutes of inactivity' to change the time.

Notifications & Badges

Stay on top of important updates—or silence them when you need focus.

Right-click on an app and go to ⚙Settings > App Settings:

  • Show unread count - Click the badge to hide/show it.
  • Show unread activity - Click the badge to hide/show it.
  • Notification Settings - Opens further settings for each app.
  • Notification Sound - Choose a sound from the dropdown, or upload your own.

Right-click on an app and go to ⚙Settings > App Settings > Account & Behaviour

  • Control where new tabs open : Look for 'Opening new tab' and select an option from the dropdown.
    • Wavebox (App Matcher) - default.
    • New Tab.
    • New Window.
  • Customize Individual Rules: Look for 'Customize Link Opening Rules button.

Apps & Spaces

Right-click on an app and go to ⚙Settings > App Settings > Space

  • An app belongs to the Space that was in focus when you created it.
  • Move Spaces:
    • Look for 'Using the Name Space' and choose a different space from the dropdown.
    • Click 'Customize Spaces' to launch the Drag & Drop Spaces Manager.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Notifications Not Working?
    • Check Show Notifications is enabled.
    • Make sure the app isn’t sleeping if you need instant alerts (disable sleep or use auto-wake).
    • Confirm your OS allows notifications from Wavebox.
  • Unread Count Incorrect?
    • Right-click the app icon and select Reload to refresh.
    • For email apps (e.g., Gmail), align your inbox type (e.g., “Primary Only,” “Unread First”) in Wavebox with your actual inbox settings.
  • Exclamation Mark on App Icon?
    • Sign back in to that service if you’ve been logged out.
    • Or disable the app’s “logged out” badge in Settings if you prefer not to see it.
  • App Freezes or Errors?
    • Clear cookies and site data for that specific app (click the lock icon in the address bar > Cookies & Site Data).
    • Reload the app and sign in again if needed.
